Start a Blog!

"Blog"Choose a blogging platform.

There are many, many blogging platforms in cyberspace.

My personal recommendation would of course be WordPress. There are several options within WordPress for an individual or group for that matter, to choose from. Your first option and the lesser of the two would be that of WordPress.com. This option can be very limiting. Your blog would be controlled by WordPress and WordPress needless to say has been known in the past to shutdown blogs. Would you care to have all your hard work taken away in one felt swoop?

Your second option and the most preferred by many would be that of WordPress.org. Having said that, this option allows you the blogger by far the most freedom, as in total control. It becomes your very own piece of the pie or your star in the sky. Destiny is left only to your creativity. The features are endless and Google loves WordPress.

WordPress offers endless free templates to choose from for you design.

According to TechTerms.com, a template is a file that serves as a starting point for a new document. When you open a template, it is pre-formatted in some way. A template serves as a pattern for your website and or blog, an electronic file with a predefined structure or format. You will be able to choose a template commonly referred to as a theme, right here in wordpress under the appearance tab. My recommendation is to take advantage of the thousands of free themes available to you. Make it your own!

My advice to you, peruse the internet looking at blogs. Then make your own choice. But remember that the majority of professionals use WordPress.org.

  1. OK question for you. I am not that good at the design part. Is word press easy to work with for changing back grounds and pics and all that. Or would it be easier to hire someone to do it for me? Thanks for your time. 🙂

    • WordPress is very user friendly. In fact their forum is also very helpful. They have thousands of free themes. Hiring someone can be quite expensive.
My advice to you, give it try before taking on the expense of a professional.
